The standoff between Memphis Depay and Corinthians reached a point where continuing was impossible. The Dutchman’s renewal requests were off the charts in their audacity. He asked for €12 MILLION as his salary across the next two seasons. On top of that, he wanted €43,000 MONTHLY strictly to cover his housing rent. The demands extended to facilities, including a private box at the Neo Química Arena. He also insisted on using the stadium for two days to host his own events. For those events, Depay and his team would take half of all generated revenue. Looking further ahead, he sought a cut of the prize money if Corinthians wins the 2029 Club World Cup, even if he has left the club by then.
