Diego Forlan shirt celebration rule

DIEGO FORLAN: "The yellow card for taking off your shirt was reinstated because of a celebration of mine. I took off my shirt to celebrate and couldn't get it back on for several minutes, so I had to keep playing without it. FIFA didn't like that scene at all and, from then on, decided to officially reinstate the yellow card sanction." "There was a time when FIFA removed the yellow card for taking off your shirt when celebrating a goal. I took advantage right in that period. I started doing it often, because it was the only moment it was allowed. I remember that goal perfectly: I take off my shirt, celebrate with everything, and when I have to go back to put it on, the impossible happens. It was long-sleeved, had an outer part and an inner part, and the inner part got into a tremendous knot. I tried to turn it inside out and there was no way. The match was about to resume and I was still there, struggling with the shirt as if it were another opponent." "Meanwhile, play continued. I was on the left wing, the ball passes by there and I end up running with the shirt in my hand, as if I were playing in a kickabout. I get there, take the ball off the opponent and pass it to Barthez. At that moment the referee comes over, looks at me and says: 'Get out of here, you're making the match difficult for me. Go, put your shirt on and then come back.' That's when I realized how absurd and wonderful the scene was: I was defending without a shirt in an official match, simply because I had over-celebrated a goal." #Football
