In China’s BoxOffice, pre-sales for ChristopherNolan’s epic TheOdyssey remain strong ahead of its AUG 14 FRI Opening Day (2nd round of limited previews on SAT AUG 08 & SUN AUG 09) ending 7th day on FRI with $5.8M 7-day cume for the AUG 08-AUG16 period, with 6 days yet to go. Pre-sales Breakdown: $2.4M AUG 08 SAT Preview over just 1.892 screenings $1.6M AUG 09 SUN Previews over just 1.910 screenings $820k AUG 14 FRI Opening Day $588k AUG 15 SAT $375k AUG 16 SUN Keep in mind that right now only 20k screenings are open for bookings for its AUG 14 FRI Opening Day, so pre-sales’ pacing will keep growing the more screenings are made available. As always, note that the amounts above don’t include the $708k already grossed over this past AUG 01 & 02 limited previews, so the film has already $6.5M in the can. WOM seems positive, with TheOdyssey receiving strong 8.3⭐️ from audiences on Douban who have already watched it during last weekend’s previews or via Pirate’s Bay (vs AvatarFireAndAsh’s 7.5⭐️, FreeGuy’s 7.5⭐️, Tenet’s 7.6⭐️, SpiderManBrandNewDay     ’s 7.8⭐️, AvatarTheWayOfWater’s 7,8⭐️, DunePartTwo’s 8.1⭐️, F1’s 8.7⭐️, Oppenheimer’s 8.8⭐️) TheOdyssey could genuinely challenge TENET as the biggest Nolan hit, and also challenge F1 & maybe even FreeGuy as the biggest Non-franchise Hollywood hit in China.
