The Odyssey China BoxOffice strong pre-sales

Christopher Nolan's epic The Odyssey is making waves in China's BoxOffice. Pre-sales are remaining strong leading up to its AUG 14 FRI Opening Day. The film had limited previews on SAT AUG 08 and SUN AUG 09, which brought in $1.9M and $1.3M respectively. By the end of the 6-day period from AUG 08-AUG16, the cume is sitting at $4.8M, with seven days still to go. The pre-sales breakdown shows $740k for AUG 14 FRI Opening Day, $513k for AUG 15 SAT, and $300k for AUG 16 SUN. It's worth noting that only 18k screenings are available for booking for the AUG 14 FRI Opening Day, so these pre-sales figures are expected to grow as more screenings open up. Adding to this, the film has already grossed $708k from limited previews on AUG 01 & 02, bringing the total gross to $5.5M. Audiences are clearly enjoying it, giving The Odyssey a strong 8.3-star rating on Douban. This performance suggests The Odyssey could rival TENET as Nolan's biggest hit in China and potentially challenge F1 and Free Guy for the top spot among non-franchise Hollywood films. For context, other films on Douban include Avatar Fire And Ash (7.5⭐️), Free Guy (7.5⭐️), Tenet (7.6⭐️), Spider-Man Brand New Day (7.8⭐️), Avatar The Way Of Water (7,8⭐️), Dune Part Two (8.1⭐️), F1 (8.7⭐️), and Oppenheimer (8.8⭐️).
