Mason Mount Manchester United midfield shift

Mason Mount’s role is being reshaped under Michael Carrick this pre-season. After arriving from Chelsea in 2023 with big expectations, injuries kept him from fully delivering. Late last season, Carrick started pulling him back from the number 10 spot into a deeper midfield job, and that experiment has carried into camp with clear payoffs. Paired with Andrey Santos, Mount’s press resistance and close control are giving Manchester United a real edge in the middle of the park.
