The live-action 'Moana' remake underperformed significantly on its opening day, earning $13.9 million on Friday (including $4.5 million from previews). As previously noted here, the $60 million+ projections that trades had been reporting were never realistic. The film is now on track to gross barely $40 million over the entire weekend.
