Most Powerful Passports by Year 2006-2026

An infographic from the Henley Passport Index shows the most powerful passports from 2006 through 2026. The United States led in 2006 with visa-free access to 130 destinations. The United Kingdom took the top spot in 2010 with 166, and then tied with the US in 2014 at 174. The UK held it alone in 2015 with 173, followed by Germany in 2016 (177) and 2017 (176). Japan claimed the lead in 2018 with 189, tied with Singapore in 2019 at 190, and reached 191 in 2020. The data continues through 2026.
