The Chinese population in Canada has grown steadily over the past decade. In 2000, there were 945,000 Chinese residents in Canada. By 2001, that number rose to 1,029,395. The population continued to climb: 1,068,000 in 2002, 1,108,000 in 2003, 1,149,000 in 2004, 1,191,000 in 2005, 1,216,575 in 2006, 1,245,000 in 2007, 1,274,000 in 2008, and 1,304,000 in 2009.
