The Nigerian population in the UK has grown significantly over the past decades. In 2000, there were 84,000 Nigerians living in the UK. By 2001, that number increased to 88,378, and in 2002 it reached 95,000. The upward trend continued: 102,000 in 2003, 110,000 in 2004, 120,000 in 2005, 132,000 in 2006, 145,000 in 2007, 158,000 in 2008, 172,000 in 2009, and 180,000 in 2010.
