Scientists have identified chemicals never before detected in the air above the Amazon rainforest. The discovery came after the severe drought that hit the region throughout 2023 and 2024. While they collected air samples above the forest canopy, researchers found that the trees were releasing these previously unknown substances into the atmosphere as a response to the dry conditions.
