Jalen Brunson Knicks Comeback vs Cavs

This kind of scenario has played out before. During the prior season inside the same building at Madison Square Garden, the Pacers pulled off a stunning fourth quarter rally to claim Game 1. With seven minutes and forty two seconds remaining in the fourth, the Knicks looked destined for another tough Eastern Conference Finals Game 1 defeat to the Cavaliers after falling behind by twenty two points. Momentum had completely vanished. Every rebound and loose ball seemed to favor the Cavaliers. ESPN reported that the Knicks win probability sat at just 0.1 percent at that stage of the quarter. Since the 1997-98 season, whenever a team has trailed by twenty two points or more in the fourth quarter of a playoff contest, those squads have gone 1-594. Then Jalen Brunson took control. The scorer nicknamed the Brunson Burner put up fifteen of his thirty eight total points in the fourth quarter while going seven for nine from the field in a hot stretch. He still needed help from others. Once the Cavaliers began sending double teams his way, Mikal Bridges started knocking down important three pointers. Landry Shamet saw almost no action until the fourth quarter began, yet he managed to shut out Donovan Mitchell for the final nine minutes of regulation plus overtime. The episode stands as another clear example that no lead is truly secure in the NBA, above all during the playoffs. The Cavaliers were forced to learn that reality in the most painful fashion possible.
