    ⭐Steven Spielberg

The way that tripod just sits there in the smoke looking like it's breathing is actually more scary than any jump scare, and I still remember the theater being so quiet everyone was holding their breath. Those silhouettes staring up at the glowing eye hit different when you realize they have no idea what's coming next.

    ⭐Steven Spielberg

The first 30 minutes of WAR OF THE WORLDS (2005) might be Spielberg at his most terrifying. A colossal alien tripod looms over a smoke-filled city street with silhouetted figures looking up. The mood is tense and apocalyptic with a cinematic sci-fi aesthetic.
