About this photo
This is a split-screen before-and-after photograph comparing the same urban canal scene in 1982 and now. The top 1982 image shows a wide multi-lane highway with heavy car and bus traffic running alongside a concrete retaining wall, an overpass, and dense city buildings with a prominent twin-towered church in the background. The bottom โNowโ image reveals the highway has been removed and replaced by a tranquil tree-lined canal where people are paddling on stand-up paddleboards and riding in a blue tour boat. The mood is documentary and transformative, highlighting the dramatic greening of the area with lush grass, trees, and a sunny blue sky. On-screen text reads exactly โ1982โ in the top panel and โNowโ in the bottom panel.
