@FootynewsDIEGO MARADONA recalls a specific night where his first paycheck from Argentinos Jrs vanished at the Rumba in Pompeya. He was the lowest-paid player on the squad, even with travel allowances added, yet spending that money alone with his mother made them feel like Bill Gates and Queen Sofía. The pair consumed everything they could find, devouring massive American-style pizzas and chugging very cold large American sodas. Maradona describes seeing his mother happy during that meal, a moment of pure joy despite his humble earnings. He later tried to purchase the restaurant itself but was refused, marking one of the few times he heard a direct no.
