@kunalsummerThe reality of closing out 2026 in the way TKO hopes it will close out hinges entirely on successfully finishing three remaining events scheduled in the Middle East for the remainder of the year. Mark Shapiro, the President of TKO, laid out a stark tradeoff where canceling these shows would wipe away several goals and achievements to a certain degree, impacting their year in a very negative way. He noted that while they have been lucky enough so far not to have any interruption at the events, he cannot guarantee that future ones will proceed without a hitch or any danger arising from conflict escalation. The company is prioritizing keeping people safe and comfortable over business interests, meaning if there is danger or further escalation of any of these conflicts going on, they will not hesitate to cancel those events regardless of budget impact. Shapiro affirmed a commitment that people come first, stating that while humanity is most important and business is secondary, they still want to have the year everyone envisioned and worked hard for. It is certainly a balancing act since everybody wants to be successful and keep growing their sports, requiring events to do it, but the people part of that equation does come first in that decision making process. If those final three events get canceled, all the progress made gets wiped away to a certain degree, leaving them with no choice but to accept the negative impact on the year because there isn't much they can do about safety concerns once they arise.
