@felix_pThe part of Baer Sobieralski's story that gets me is how ordinary the search was. In 2024, in Texas, this little boy was up against a serious kidney disease before he'd even hit his first birthday, and a transplant was the only way forward. Nobody in the family could donate. So his parents put the ask out to the public and hoped a stranger would step up. Jane Callahan did. A third-grade teacher and a single mother of two, living some distance away, she came across the story and had no connection to Baer or his family at all. She still went and got tested, then volunteered as his donor. The transplant worked. When the family finally met her, the emotion in that room was real. No shared blood, no years of friendship, just someone who saw a kid in need and decided it was worth finding out if she could help. That's the base of it for me, not the big gesture but the quiet choice to try. What Jane handed that family can't be bought at any price. Hope for their son's future, plain and simple
