@FootynewsWayne Rooney set the record straight on how people misunderstood his time with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United. Folks kept saying he had to sacrifice himself for CR7 to shine, but that was never how he saw their partnership. The Englishman explained that while he was focused on collective glory like the Premier League and Champions League, Ronaldo operated on a completely different frequency. He described the Portuguese legend as being obsessed with being the absolute best and collecting individual hardware like the Ballon d'Or. Rooney made it clear he didn't need to be the star; if he had to play on the left in a final without hesitation, he did it for the team every single time. He wanted to lift trophies with his teammates rather than chase personal accolades. What really struck him about Ronaldo though was that insatiable hunger and ambition that drove him to demand more from himself constantly. That mindset is exactly what built his legendary status. It wasn't just talent either. It was a willingness to sacrifice everything to be number one. Wayne contrasted this with his own approach where he enjoyed life differently. That fundamental difference in philosophy marked the paths they both took. Two distinct mindsets aiming for the same goal: winning.
