@sandeepxVoters have officially selected the McIntyre-Punk rivalry as the best feud of the 2020s, yet the real magic lies in how that specific line came to be. Drew McIntyre admits he initially proposed an extreme version of a promo that he was convinced would offend a massive amount of people because he is very good at pushing boundaries. Triple H advised him to tone down the content significantly, and then Hunter himself stepped up to deliver the final line that eventually became 'I prayed for this.' McIntyre ended up adopting Triple H's exact cadence and delivery for the promo because he got so excited by the genius of it after seeing how Hunter dialed back his extreme version. He describes Triple H as a total savant when it comes to this business, often wondering how Hunter thinks of those things sometimes because it feels like pure genius every single time. The promo itself was designed to be sympathetic regarding injuries since Punk had gotten hurt, and McIntyre understands what it is like to have things taken away from him after being injured before and losing in his life both in the ring and out of the ring. He can get real personal with that pain but underneath that sympathy, he hates that son of a b*tch and planned to say it in the exact same tone all the way through until people go wait what? His face goes what? Then I drop his ass. It is constantly me pointing outside of wrestling saying 'I prayed for this, and it happened' because he didn't think he'd be seeing this day for everything no matter what as a fan who would lose their mind. When Hunter delivered the line back to him by toning him down a little bit, McIntyre went wow that is genius and knew he was going to use that exact tone. He knew talking to Triple H during the day that this is going to be so good and had an idea that was too much which would have offended a lot of people. He helped me reel it back and then Hunter himself came out with the line which I ended up using because I had such an extreme version and he dialed it back and the way he said it and the cadence of how it's to be said. He said it like that and I got so excited because he's obviously a savant when it comes to this business. Sometimes though he comes out with things; I went how do you think of that? But it was like that is genius and oh my god that is going to be so good. I know as a fan I would lose my mind. Didn't think I'd be seeing it to this day for everything no matter what. It's sports it's outside of wrestling it's constantly me pointing 'I prayed for this and it happened.' But I knew in that moment when Hunter delivered the line back to me by toning me down a little bit I went wow that is genius because I'm going to use that exact tone.
