@timofeyActually, the global horse-meat market in 2024 is way more regional than most people realize since production is heavily concentrated in Central Asia, East Asia, and parts of Latin America. When you look at the actual numbers from FAOSTAT 2024 with calculations and presentation by Terra Cultiva, China dominates the list as the leading producer globally with 180,716 tonnes. Kazakhstan comes right behind them in second place for 2024 having produced 170,918 tonnes of horse meat. Mexico took third spot that year with 70,664 tonnes while Mongolia rounded out the top four producers with 61,158 tonnes. Russia isn't far behind either, producing 48,724 tonnes of horse meat in 2024. Argentina followed up with 22,304 tonnes and Brazil was close behind at 22,235 tonnes. Australia contributed 20,817 tonnes to the global total while Kyrgyzstan added 19,604 tonnes. Canada produced 18,554 tonnes and Uruguay came in with 10,251 tonnes. Chile managed 7,818 tonnes and Spain produced 7,739 tonnes. Senegal brought in 7,089 tonnes and Uzbekistan added 6,395 tonnes. The United Kingdom produced 5,775 tonnes while Ukraine came in at 5,700 tonnes. Haiti contributed 4,900 tonnes and Japan finished the list with 4,092 tonnes. The data note clarifies these figures measure horse-meat production in tonnes rather than total horse populations. It also notes the global total is the sum of available country observations and may not capture unreported production. Reported global totals reached approximately 721,503 tonnes across 60 countries reporting production in 2024. China and Kazakhstan together accounted for about 48.7% of this reported total. Agricultural insight suggests Kazakhstan's strong position reflects the importance of horses in Central Asian livestock systems. Mongolia's extensive pastoral traditions also contribute to its place among major producers. Follow for more verified global livestock rankings and agricultural statistics.
