    EV adoption by country 2025

@savageupdatesNorway leads the pack by a mile, with 97% of new cars sold there in 2025 being electric. That is not a typo. Nepal follows at 73%, then Denmark at 69%, Sweden at 61%, and Iceland at 57%. Finland and the Netherlands are locked at 56% each, and China lands at 53%. Belgium comes in at 43%, Portugal at 37%, while Ireland and Luxembourg both sit at 34%. Switzerland and the United Kingdom tie at 33%, with Austria and Israel right behind at 31%. Germany records 29%, France 25%, and Thailand 21%. Spain and Latvia share 19%, Estonia is at 18%, and Lithuania, Türkiye, and Costa Rica each hit 17%. Cyprus and Indonesia are at 15%, and Slovenia and South Korea close it out at 14%. The whole ranking, which covers 40 countries, is credited to IEA and Ember.

    About this photo

This is an infographic detailing the EV Share of New Car Sales by Country in 2025. Each country is represented by a circular icon with its flag and a small illustration of a car in a relevant landscape, followed by the country's name and its projected EV share percentage. The overall style is clean and informative, with a bright and optimistic aesthetic. A notable detail is the inclusion of specific landmarks in some illustrations, like the Eiffel Tower for France and Big Ben for the United Kingdom. The bottom of the infographic includes a watermark: "Source: IEA and Ember."
