Maduro and Cilia Flores not guilty plea

@jolyonA not guilty plea to fresh torture charges, entered by Maduro and Cilia Flores in a New York court, is the latest turn in a U.S. prosecution that already accuses the pair of wielding their power on behalf of cocaine traffickers. The new indictment says the two conspired to torture political rivals. Prosecutors go further, claiming Maduro gave the order to torture opposition figures and military personnel he suspected were plotting against his government. That filing rests on top of the existing case. Back in January, a U.S. military operation took the couple into custody and they were brought to New York to face trial. Whether that was a capture or a kidnapping depends on who you ask. Does anyone still care? Source: Reuters / Writer: Marie

    About this photo

The image is a collage of three scenes. The top left shows a man in a light blue shirt waving and holding a carrot, with a woman in a dark jacket waving beside him. The bottom left is a courtroom sketch of several people, including a man with a mustache in a blue shirt. The right side shows a man in a tan jacket being escorted by two men in tactical gear and a man in a dark jacket with "DEA" visible on it. The mood is a mix of public appearance and legal proceedings or arrest. The man in the tan jacket appears to be the focus of the right-hand image.
