Sarah Darling was the one who accidentally let her diamond engagement ring slip into his donation cup. He found it. He could have kept it. Instead he held onto it until she came back two days later, and then he handed it over. Sarah and her husband didn't stop there. They started a fundraiser, and the amount it pulled in went well past what anyone expected. But the part that gets me is what else came back to him. Family members he hadn't been in touch with for a long stretch found their way to him again through this. He had almost nothing. That's exactly what made it special. Nobody was watching, and he still chose the honest path. Sometimes that's the whole base of a story, and everything else just builds on top of it
