@FootynewsThe way Cristina Cubero remembers Lionel Messi stepping into Barcelona at just 14 years old paints a picture of someone completely different from the global icon he became. She describes him as an introverted, shy boy who barely spoke to anyone in the locker room, preferring to just listen and learn like some kind of computer or Japanese genius. Despite his silence, she managed to start conversations with him that revealed so much about his character. Eventually, his coach pulled her aside asking what they could possibly talk about since he never said a word around the team. That question made her suspect there was real trouble brewing between Messi and his teammates, so she reached out to Ronaldinho to step in and support the kid both on the pitch and off it. Ronaldinho didn't hesitate, agreeing to help while casually predicting that this quiet kid would eventually surpass him. Years later, the dynamic shifted when Messi asked if she would be there if he ever played for the national team, and she promised without a second thought. When he called her while she was on vacation to say he'd been picked for Argentina to face Hungary, she immediately dropped everything to travel and be by his side. Looking at him during those early days, she noted he was a strange Argentine who simply didn't talk much, explaining that listening is just how he operates because it reflects who he truly is.
