@not_a_newtcrazy legal outcome here: someone rented an Audi A3 and immediately listed it for €25,000 on a marketplace to a stranger. the rental agency noticed the vehicle never came back so they used GPS tracking to find where it was hidden. staff then drove up with a second key to retrieve the car since they still had access. instead of just taking their property back, the buyer decided to sue the rental company claiming theft happened. 🤣 a German court ended up ruling in favor of the buyer and said he gets to keep the car. the logic was that the purchase remained legal because the buyer genuinely lacked knowledge that the vehicle was stolen at the time of buying. the guy presented fake documents to prove ownership and claimed the second key was lost during the transaction. this is funny justice because the court sided with the person who bought the car despite the paperwork being fabricated.
