2024 Natural Honey Production By Country

@timofeyBees do way more than just make the sweet stuff we put on toast; they're actually essential for pollinating crops and keeping food systems running, which links agriculture, rural livelihoods, trade, and biodiversity all together. When you look at who's actually moving the needle on natural honey production in 2024, China is sitting at the top with approximately 444,800 tonnes of output, which accounts for about 24.1% of the total calculated from available national observations. India comes in second place with approximately 146,000 tonnes, a figure that was roughly 39% higher than the previous year. Türkiye follows up with approximately 95,500 tonnes, while Ethiopia rounds out the top four with approximately 86,000 tonnes. Iran isn't far behind at approximately 80,200 tonnes, and Argentina produced approximately 69,300 tonnes to take sixth spot. Brazil contributed approximately 67,300 tonnes, Russia added approximately 65,500 tonnes, and the United States came in with approximately 61,000 tonnes. Mexico recorded approximately 57,400 tonnes, Ukraine produced approximately 53,500 tonnes, and Canada finished the top ten with approximately 35,500 tonnes. Spain made approximately 33,200 tonnes, Tanzania contributed approximately 31,900 tonnes, Germany produced approximately 31,800 tonnes, and South Korea added approximately 31,200 tonnes. Vietnam rounded out the list with approximately 25,500 tonnes, while Angola produced approximately 23,400 tonnes. It is worth noting that Italy and Uganda also entered the global top 20 with approximately 21,900 tonnes and approximately 21,600 tonnes respectively. The wider beekeeping economy relies heavily on healthy populations because pollination supports fruits, vegetables, oilseeds, and other crops beyond just honey income. Africa holds a significant position here with Ethiopia ranking fourth, Tanzania at number fourteen, Angola at eighteenth, and Uganda entering the top twenty. These figures represent NATURAL HONEY PRODUCTION measured in tonnes during 2024 and are distinct from the number of beehives or individual bees since productivity per hive varies based on genetics, climate, forage availability, and management practices. FAOSTAT-based data covers 121 countries with available observations, showing a global total of approximately 1.84 million tonnes of natural honey production. The calculations and presentation of this data were performed by Terra Cultiva using FAOSTAT 2024 sources.

    About this photo

The image is an infographic about the largest natural-honey producing countries in the world for 2024. A beekeeper in protective gear holds a honeycomb filled with bees, with rows of beehives and jars of honey visible in the background. The infographic lists countries and their natural honey production in tonnes, with China at the top. The mood is informative and educational, with a focus on agriculture and global data. Visually notable elements include the detailed honeycomb, the beekeeper's attire, and the clear presentation of data.
