@igoraustinDecember 2026 is when Japanese cinemas get Galaxy Express 999 back, this time as a 4K Remaster of the second movie, Adieu Galaxy Express 999. That second film first hit theaters in 1981, with Rintaro directing and Toei Animation handling the animation. Before it came the 1979 movie, so what's returning is the follow-up in Matsumoto Leiji's space opera. Image © Matsumoto Leiji, Leiji-sha, Toei Animation

The focus is an anime illustration of a woman with long blonde hair and a black fur hat, set against a starry cosmic background with a swirling galaxy. A vintage train car with the number 999 on it is also featured, seemingly traveling through space. The mood is ethereal and nostalgic, with a distinct anime aesthetic. The woman's dramatic eyelashes and the detailed rendering of the train are visually notable. ON-SCREEN TEXT: さよなら 銀河鉄道999 ーアンドロメダ終着駅ー 4K REMASTER © 松本零士 / 零時社 ・ 東映アニメーション
