@kbrunosir alex ferguson once told the story of how ryan giggs and gary neville begged him to sign alessandro del piero after he tore united's defence apart. he called del piero, but got a no. then in 2006, after italy won the world cup and serie a was shaken by the match-fixing scandal, ferguson tried again. he knew real madrid were in for del piero too, so he told him not to go to madrid and that he'd be the star at united. del piero laughed and said he couldn't be a coward now, with juventus relegated to serie b. he stayed to bring juve back up instead #AlexFerguson #AlessandroDelPiero
