    Lyme disease bullseye rash misconception

@polly_springA family of four siblings were all diagnosed with Lyme disease following tick bites, even though their dog had displayed symptoms years before. The differences in how each sibling experienced the illness highlighted a widespread misconception about the condition. Makalea and her three siblings each contracted the disease, and their varying cases underscore a key point: the absence of a bullseye rash does not rule out Lyme disease. About this photo

A young girl in a gray t-shirt and denim shorts bends forward in tall grass, gripping her left shin with both hands. A faint circular rash with concentric rings appears on her lower leg. The setting is an overgrown, sunlit field with dense green foliage behind her. Her head is tilted down, eyes focused on the mark. Large teal text at the bottom reads: "The absence of a bullseye rash may delay diagnosis of Lyme disease after tick bites".
