I Play Rocky scene loop
@rogers_jamieOne of the few films in the LFF 2026 main lineup that actually feels like a genuine crowd-pleaser is this surprise entry called IPlayRocky, and honestly it’s an absolute delight. amazon mgm just dropped another winner with a biopic starring Anthony Ippolito that dives into the making of Sylvester Stallone's iconic ROCKY, and the way they handle the underdog narrative centered on perseverance and dreams is nothing short of uplifting. Peter Farrelly directed the whole thing, and he really delivered because every single actor brings their A-game, especially PJ Byrne and Toby Kebbell who portray the producers of ROCKY with such charm that they become the comic relief you didn't know you needed. The film tackles real behind-the-scenes issues from that era while keeping things fun, including a hilarious sequence where producers try to evade unions which ends with a triumphant SAG AFTRA logo that just hits different. what stands out most though is how Anthony Ippolito embodies Sylvester Stallone with such perfectionism in every aspect that it ranks as one of the best performances of the year, capturing the spirit of someone determined to achieve their dreams no matter what life throws at them. the production design also deserves major credit for recreating period details and Philadelphia locations so perfectly that you genuinely feel transported back in time to watch the Steady Camera filmmaking tool get its origin story told with all the respect it deserves. this isn't just a standard biopic; it addresses those gritty realities while maintaining an inspiring tone about believing in yourself against all odds. if you want something that balances humor, heart, and historical accuracy without losing sight of the human struggle, this is it.
