Pheriche sits close to 14,000 feet up in the Mount Everest region of Nepal, and its helipad is about as small as they come. Around 8 a.m. Tuesday, two choppers were setting down there when their blades caught each other, CCTV shows, and both ended up in the snow while more than a dozen folks on the ground scattered. An Indian tourist, 47, didn't survive. A 53-year-old traveler from New Zealand was hurt and taken to Kathmandu for care. The two pilots came out of it with minor injuries. Rescued trekkers were aboard one of the aircraft; the other was moving cargo. With peak trekking season in full swing, that stretch of airspace stays busy shuttling climbers, sightseers and gear, and crowded skies are kind of the norm there. Should there be stricter limits on how many helicopters can fly around Everest at once?
