Marco Rubio, a sitting Secretary of State, is openly asking Cubans to partner with the CIA to take down the communist government. That kind of direct invitation to a regime's own people is almost unheard of. His quote: "To those who seek to create positive change in Cuba - now is the time... seize this opportunity to create the change you desire through a discrete partnership with the CIA." Trump had already said on stage that Cuba might be next and that Marco would have a role. The backdrop to all this: over 65 years of the Castro regime, and what's come out of it is poverty, blackouts and repression, while the communists doing the ruling live in luxury. Rubio also said the revolution has failed for 60-something years and is a failure now, that there's acknowledgment inside the Cuban system of that, and that the real question is what replaces it. He called it a chance to put the country on an irreversible path toward progress, political and economic freedom included, with the US open to measures that start that change and willing to help if Cuba is open to it. He was clear it won't be quick either, that you don't undo 60-something years of mismanagement, corruption and incompetence in six months, and that things won't improve without very substantial changes. Asked about a Venezuela-style route, he gave a general answer, not Cuba-specific: if there's a threat to US national security, the president has the power and the obligation to address it. 🇨🇺🇺🇸 #MarcoRubio
