Former President Trump has signaled he wants to push the F-35 deal through regardless of sticking points, even as Greek PM Mitsotakis notes the U.S. decides who gets defense systems. Turkey faces significant legal obstacles acquiring the jets after purchasing Russian S-400 missile systems in 2019, which triggered removal from the program. Rejoining requires divesting from that Russian equipment, a condition the US State Dept. says Ankara hasn't met yet. For the time being at least, Mitsotakis does not see how those barriers get overcome. The Greek leader reiterates it isn't their job to tell Washington who should or shouldn't sell arms. Writer Michael covers how this situation leaves Turkey stuck without meeting requirements while Trump indicates support for proceeding anyway. #DonaldTrump
He is definitely trying to keep it simple while everyone else makes it complicated
